Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type section: just west of Simpson Springs, 2.5 mi northwest of Calera, [Montevalo 15-min quadrangle, 1944 ed.], Shelby Co., AL. Named from Columbiana 15-min quadrangle in which east side of Calera is located (Cooper, 1956).

Appalachian basin
