Type section: 0.5 km west of and 1 to 2 km northwest of Fulstone Number 3 Spring, in secs. 12, 13, and 24, T. 14 N., R. 23 E., Lincoln Flat 7.5-min quadrangle [1993 ed.], Yerington region, northern Buckskin Range, Lyon and Douglas Cos., west-central NV. Named from Churchill Canyon, located immediately northwest of Buckskin Range (Proffett and Dilles, 2008).
