Type section: an abandoned quarry, in NE/4 NW/4 sec. 21, T. 16 N., R. 2 E., 2 km northwest of Jerome, Clarkdale quadrangle, Yavapai Co., AZ. Named from Chino Valley, 52 km northwest of Jerome (Hereford, 1975).
