Type locality: abandoned railroad cut in NW/4 NW/4 NE/4 sec. 30, T. 10 S., R. 5 E., Carrier Mills quadrangle, Saline Co., southern IL. Named from town of Carrier Mills, located about midway between Stonefort and Harrisburg (Nelson and others, 1991).
