Type section: stream bank exposure, east fork of Cape La Croix Creek, in SW/4 SW/4 SW/4 sec. 13, T. 31 N., R. 13 E., Cape Girardeau 7.5-min quadrangle, Cape Girardeau Co., southeastern MO. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from the creek (Thompson, 1991; Thompson and Tull, 1991).
Reference section: at type section of Cape Limestone, in city of Cape Girardeau, near intersection of Broadway and North Main St. (Thompson, 1991; Thompson and Tull, 1991).
