Type section: outcrops in Rio Bayamon and adjacent roadcuts and quarries extending from quarry on west side of river in Barrio Guaraguao (Puerto Rico Meter Grid System 183,475 E.; 56,600 N.), south to outcrops in river (183,590 E.; 55,540 N.). Named from Quebrada Cancel, Naranjito quadrangle, north-central Puerto Rico (Pease, 1968).
