Type section (same as type for Sheep Crossing Formation): railroad cut 200 m east of where Route 273 crosses West Fork of Little Colorado River (=Sheep Crossing), in NW/4 SE/4 NW/4 sec. 33, T. 7 N., R. 27 E., Big Lake North 7.5-min quadrangle, southern Apache Co., AZ. Named from Sheep Crossing Campground (Merrill and Pewe, 1977).
