Type locality: exposures in Stokes Canyon, in sec. 3, T. 1 S., R. 17 W., 3 km west of Calabasas Peak, Santa Monica Mountains, north-central Malibu Beach quadrangle, Los Angeles Co., CA (Yerkes and Campbell, 1979).
