Type section: along south side of PA Highway 850, 1.5 mi north of Kistler. Starts at borrow pit and extends west approx. 200 ft., located 3,700 ft south of Lat. 40 deg. 25 min N., and 16,600 ft east of Long 77 deg. 30 min. W., Loysburg 7.5-min quadrangle, Perry Co., south-central PA. Origin of name not stated by author, but probably named from Cabin Hill [Lat. 40 deg. 25 min. 25 sec. N., Long. 77 deg. 24 min. 57 sec. W., Spruce Hill 7.5-min quadrangle, Perry Co., PA (location of Cabin Hill from USGS GNIS database)] (Miller, 1961).
