Type section: in large quarries along the northeast side of Brandywine Creek, adjacent to the Northern Delaware Greenway, Alapocas Woods Park, Lat. 39 deg. 46 min. 10 sec. N., Long. 75 deg. 33 min. 37 sec. W., Wilmington North 7.5-min quadrangle, New Castle Co., DE. Origin of name not stated by authors, but probably named from Brandywine Creek (Plank and others, 2000).
