Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: north side of Hondo Canyon, in sec. 24, T. 11 S., R. 20 E., Lincoln Co., southeastern NM, where base of section is mapped at the top of the cliffy rise above the road. Named from exposures in Bonney Canyon, a tributary of the Hondo River south of Riverside (Kelley, 1971).
