Geologic age:

Early Ordovician (Ibexian; Tremadocian)


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Because of historical significance of term "Blue Earth," this siltstone is called Blue Earth Siltstone Bed. It occurs for some distance up Blue Earth River, Le Sueur Co., southeastern MN (Powell, 1935).

Sioux uplift
