Biwabik Iron-Formation of Animikie Group (MN*)

Named from Biwabik Mine, one of earliest and largest mines located on formation, Mesabi district, northeastern MN. Biwabik is Chippewa word for piece or fragment of iron (Van Hise and Leith, 1901).
