Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: in cliffs on west and east banks of Beargrass Creek, in Cherokee Park in eastern Louisville. Cliffs are 0.2 mi southwest of Cherokee Park Road-Seneca Park Road intersection, immediately west of Big Rock shelter house and approx. 1.3 mi southeast of Shanks quarry, Lat. 38 deg. 13 min. 57 sec. N., Long. 85 deg. 41 min. 03 sec. W., Louisville East quadrangle, Jefferson Co., north-central KY (Conkin and others, 1992).
