Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: exposures in mountains above and eastward from Bear Lake, Port Moller-Unga area, Alaska Peninsula, southwestern AK (Burk, 1965).
Type locality clarified: on southeast slopes of mountain (in secs. 27 and 28, T. 48 S., R. 69 W.), 10 km east of Bear Lake, Chignik A-7 and Port Moller D-1 quadrangles (scale 1:63,360), Alaska Peninsula, southwestern AK (Detterman and others, 1981).
