Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Caps Azotea Mesa, 12 to 15 mi west of Carlsbad, Guadalupe Mountains area, Eddy Co., southeastern NM. Notable exposures on western part of mesa and in Rocky Arroyo [Bandanna Point 15-min quadrangle, Eddy Co., NM] (Lang, 1937).
