Type locality: along U.S. Highway 29, 100 m south from its junction with VA Highway 6 N, where it crosses Rockfish River at Woods Mill, Lovingston 7.5-min quadrangle, Lat. 37 deg. 51 min. N., Long. 78 deg. 49 min. 30 sec. W., Nelson Co., south-central VA. Origin of name not stated. (Sinha and Bartholomew, 1984).
