Type locality: in roadside east of railroad crossing in NE/4 NW/4 sec. 24, T. 9 S., R. 4 E., Williamson Co., southeastern IL. Named from village of Allenby, Saline Co., 0.5 mi southwest of type outcrop (Kosanke and others, 1960).
