Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Named from typical exposures in Allan Hollow [now Allen Hollow], immediately northeast of Coalville, Summit Co., northeastern UT. Allan Hollow is a strike valley between northwest dip slope of Coalville member and overlying cliff of Oyster Ridge sandstone (Hale, 1960).
