Type locality: on west edge of West Pahranagat Range, 0.2 km south of NV Highway 375, 3 km southwest of Hancock Summit, in N/2 SE/4 sec. 19, T. 6 S., R. 59 E. (unsurveyed), Lat. 37.41 deg. N., Long. 115.40 deg. W., Crescent Reservoir 7.5-min quadrangle, Lincoln Co., southern NV. [Named from exposures around community of Alamo, southern NV] (Sandberg and others, 1997).
