Alamo Creek Basalt of Chisos Group (TX-local)
Recognized in southwestern TX, notably Trans-Pecos area, Big Bend National Park, and Big Bend Ranch State Park.


Geologic age:

early Tertiary (Eocene)


Type section, locality, area and/or origin of name:

Type locality: Alamo Creek, west of Chisos Mountains, where exposed almost continuously from near Dawson Creek southward to Rio Grande, Brewster Co., southwestern TX (Maxwell and Hazzard, 1967; Henry and Davis, 1996).

Permian basin
