Notable exposures on crest of Aeolian Buttes, a low craggy ridge between U.S. Highway 395 and Mono Craters, June Lake district, [approx. Lat. 37 deg. 51 min. 33 sec. N., Long. 119 deg. 04 min. 36 sec. W., June Lake 7.5-min quadrangle, Mono Co., Inyo National Forest, eastern central CA]; also exposed in Mono Craters tunnel (Putnam, 1949).
