Named as member at top part of Harney Formation in Harney Basin. Formerly informally called Wrights Point lavas /lava flows /basalt by Niem (1974). Type locality is designated as roadcuts on OR HWY 205 at Wrights Point, sec.33 T24S R31E, (43 deg 26.5'N, 119 deg 00'W), Harney Co, OR. Consists of two thin olivine basalt flows that erupted from vents about 20 km west of Wrights Point in vicinity of Palomino Buttes. Is 3 to 9 m thick. Overlies conglomerate tuffaceous sandstone, siltstone, and ash beds of Harney Formation. Late Pliocene or early Pleistocene age was assigned by Piper, Robinson, and Park (1939, p.40-41). Age is late Pliocene based on K-Ar age determinations (2.6 Ma, Parker, 1974; 2.4 MA, Walker and others, 1974) and based on terminology of Berggren and Van Couvering (1974).
