Summary:

First used as the basal provincial subdivision (stage) of the Gulfian, as a time-rock division to include a diverse variety of lithic units judged, for one reason or another, to be of the same age as the type Woodbine and its typical divisions. Above Washita stage (Comanchean series); below Eagle Ford stage. Also called Woodbinian. Is considered to be of Cenomanian (early part) age.
