Named as upper member of Keating Formation for Witch Well shown on 1:62,500 scale Big Hatchet, NM quadrangle map. Type section in E/2 sec. 30, T. 29 S., R. 15 W., Hidalgo Co, NM. Recognized in the Klondike Hills, Cedar Mountains, and Peloncillo Mountains, NM and the Chiricahua and Pedregosa Mountains, AZ in the Pedregosa basin and the Basin-and-Range province. Consists of gray to dark-gray limestone composed of spiculite-pelletoid-bryozoan-schinoderm-lime mudstone to wackestone and packstone with 15 to 35 percent nodular to lenticular, gray to yellowish-orange-gray chert. Sedimentary features include fine ripple cross-laminations cut by numerous small worm burrows. Overlies Bugle Member (new) of Keating Formation. Overlain by Hachita Formation. 82 m thick at type section. Assigned to Mamet's microfossil Zone 7 of middle Tournaisian (Early Mississippian) age.
