Is gradational with Macklyn Member (new) (Chetco Formation). Macklyn considered older but evidence not convincing. Is considered older than middle Portlandian.

Winchuck Member [of Chetco Formation] of Widmier [1963] is described and mapped as member of Dothan Formation. Named for Winchuck River near OR-CA border along which typical outcrops occur. Composed of more than 60% black mudstone and siltstone with some sandstone beds, chert, and conglomerate. Age of Dothan Formation given as Jurassic. Includes discussion of age relationships with Franciscan and Otter Point complexes.
