Summary:

Named applied to the lowermost of two coals in the Caseyville Formation of the Morrow Supergroup. Type section is in Wildcat Den State Park SW1/4 sec 17 and SE1/4 sec 18, T77N, R1E, Muscatine Co, IA on the Iowa shelf. Consists of 1.5 ft of shaly pyritic coal at its type where it overlies unnamed gray massive to laminated shale of the Caseyville. Underlies unnamed dark gray laminated shale. Lies 2.5 ft above base of Caseyville in Wildcat Den State Park. Lies 67.3 ft above base of Caseyville at NE1/4 sec 34, T77N, R1W, Muscatine Co. Nomenclature chart. Graphic sections. Of Pennsylvanian, Morrowan age.
