Summary:

Named the West Fairview member of the Martinsburg shale for village of West Fairview, Cumberland Co., south-central PA. Unit is massive, usually weak sandstone with calcareous shale that occurs in the Harrisburg area. The West Fairview is of Late Ordovician age.
