Summary:

Named as a member of Little Sitkin dacite (new). Type locality designated on north side of West Cove, Little Sitkin Island, Rat Islands group, Aleutian Islands, AK. Consists of two aa flows (one at cove and other at crater on south slope of Little Sitkin volcano). Unit composed of black glassy dacite containing abundant small plagioclase phenocrysts and shown by analyses to be low in silica for dacite. Flows were extruded about 50 years ago. Cove flow overlies Williwaw Cove formation (new); crater flow overlies low-silica dacite of Little Sitkin dacite. Geologic map of Little Sitkin Island shows age is Quaternary.
