Summary:

Named as uppermost formation (of 3) in the northern area of the Sapulpa group. No type locality designated. Occurs in northeastern OK on the Chautauqua platform. Consists of a series of shales, sandstones, and limestones occupying the interval between the top of the Curl formation (new) and the Stanton limestone (as the Stanton is used by Haworth and Bennett, 1908). In this report, is the youngest formation in the Nowata quad. Divided into three members (ascending): Hogshooter limestone member (new), Copan member (new), and Stanton limestone member. Copan has the newly named Dewey and Avant Limestone Lentils. Overlies the Curl formation (new) of the Sapulpa group. Stratigraphic chart. Of Pennsylvanian age.
