Named for Vermeersch Rd. Type locality in channel of Galloway Wash at junction with Vermeersch Rd, Cave Creek quad, northern Maricopa Co, central AZ. [Type locality taken from table 1 of report instead of from inconsistent wording on p. 50 of report.] Occurs in White Eagle Wash as well as other washes in south-central part of Carefree basin. Consists of tan to light-tan, unconsolidated, moderately to well-sorted, moderately to well-bedded, grus-rich, modern channel deposit consisting of 53% gravel, 45% sand, 2% silt, and assorted subrounded to subangular clasts mostly >2 in., but locally reaching 16 in., in diameter. Seen as thin veneer up to 10 feet, locally up to 20 feet. Unconformably overlies Middle Proterozoic (1400 Ma) Camelback Granite (new), Miocene volcanic rocks, and late Miocene and early Pliocene Galloway, Sombrero, and Grapevine Members of Carefree Formation (all new). Cuts Pleistocene Desert Mountain Glacis Alluvium, Pleistocene Schoolhouse Glacis Alluvium, and Pleistocene Horny Toad Terrace deposits (all new). Age is Holocene.
