Summary:

Named the Union limestone [member] of the Greenbrier limestone in southeastern WV and southwestern VA for Union, Monroe Co., WV. Consists of gray, white weathering, hard, often crystalline and pure, oolitic limestone that contains marine fossils. Thickness is 100 to 275 feet. Overlies Pickaway limestone [member] and underlies Greenville shale [member]; all units are part of Greenbrier limestone. The Union is of Mississippian age.
