Summary:

Tufts Quartzite Member is included in Cambridge Argillite. Age is Proterozoic Z and possibly Early Cambrian. Report includes geologic maps and correlation charts. [Although not stated, this report effectively revises age of Tufts from Devonian or Carboniferous of Billings (1929) to Proterozoic Z and Early Cambrian(?). Because this is the first detected published reference to Tufts since 1932, this report effectively changes assignment of Tufts from Cambridge Slate of previous workers to Cambridge Argillite. Tufts was not shown on MA State bedrock map by Zen and others (1983), but this report is intended as an explanation of and (or) revision to the State map.]
