Summary:

Named as upper member of San Manuel formation (new) of Gila group for exposures on southwest side of San Manuel fault and along Tucson Wash, T9S, R16E, Pinal Co, Basin-and-Range province. No type locality designated. Lies disconformably on the erosional surface cut on the underlying Kannally member (new) of San Manuel. Underlies the Quiburis formation (new) of Gila. Consists of dark-gray to purplish-gray boulders of volcanic rocks, quartz monzonite, gray felsite, flow-banded rhyolite, and fragments from the Cloudburst formation. Becomes finer grained to south where it merges into undifferentiated part of San Manuel. Is more than 1,000 ft thick. Is intensely faulted, so accurate thickness not possible. Geologic map.
