Named for Maunawili Training School for Girls near source of flow, 2 mi northwest of Waimanalo on north flank of Olomana Peak [Koko Head 7.5' quad] Island of Oahu HI. Included in middle part of Honolulu volcanic series. Composed of nepheline basalt. Flow extends 1.5 mi north and is at least 50 ft. thick. Unconformably overlies decomposed sandstone and conglomerate terrace graded to Kaena stand of sea. Northern margin of flow etched by Waimanalo stand of sea. Hence assigned to Waipio stand of sea. Assigned middle(?) and late Pleistocene age.

Flow is 1.5 mi long and 0.75 mi wide on northeastern side of Koolau Range about 8.5 mi northwest of Makapuu Head. No fossils. Assigned late Pleistocene age on basis of assignment to Waipio stand of sea.

K-Ar age on basalt from Training School vent gave 1.13 +/-0.09 Ma.
