Summary:

Name Timmerman Hill Bed is proposed for a massive, brown-weathering, highly fossiliferous, ZOOPHYCOS-churned sandstone that forms the caprock of High Falls on Kaaterskill Creek, eastern NY. Bed lies within the lower part of the Otsego Member of the Mount Marion Formation (Hamilton Group) and is generally 2.5 m thick. Unit contains a high-diversity fauna including rugose corals, rostroconchs, and crinoids. Wave ripples and dune structures occur on the upper surface of the Bed. Timmerman Hill is one of four beds formally named in this report: The Dave Elliott Bed occurs in the upper part of the underlying Berne Member of the Mount Marion; the Halihan Hill Bed defines the base of the Otsego Member, and the Katsbaan Bed lies 33 m above the Halihan Hill and a few meters below the Timmerman Hill. Age is Middle Devonian.
