Pg. 9, pl. 1. Tiffanian age. Provincial time term, based on Tiffany local fauna, often used in a more extended sense as a faunal level, northern rim of San Juan basin, southwestern Colorado. Includes interval between Paleocene Torrejonian (older) and Clarkforkian ages. [In upper part of Paleocene; = lower part of PLESIADAPIS faunal zone.] Report defines 18 provincial time terms, based on mammal-bearing units, for North American continental Tertiary. [For sequence see under Puercan.]
Typical area: Mason pocket, in sec. 20, T. 33 N., R. 6 W., [La Plata Co., southwestern CO].
