Martin, G.C., 1926, Mesozoic stratigraphy of Alaska: U.S. Geological Survey Bulletin, 776, 493 p.
[Probably named for settlement of Thane on Gastineau Channel, Juneau district, southeastern AK.] Name credited to Eakin and Spencer (in prep.). Consists of melaphyre tuff underlain by limestone, beneath which there are interbedded tuff and slate. Is probably 5000 ft thick, Apparently conformably overlies Gastineau volcanic group (new) (of Late Triassic age). Believed to be directly overlain by Treadwell slate (new) (of Late Jurassic(?) age), though waters of Gastineau Channel intervene. Age is Early or Middle Jurassic based on stratigraphic position.
