Summary:

Occurs in two bodies bordering Temescal Canyon, Riverside Co, CA. [Named Temescal porphyry used by Dudley (1932) in abstract]. Dacite-porphyry contains abundant white feldspar and quartz phenocrysts averaging 2 mm in size in gray microcrystalline groundmass. Intruded by Estelle quartz diorite (new), Steele Valley quartz diorite (new), and Cajalco quartz monzonite (new). Is older than Elsinore metamorphic series (new). Age given as Late Jurassic(?).

Summary:

Temescal dacite porphyry of Dudley (1935) is replaced by name Temescal Wash dacite porphyry. Exposed over wide area few mi southeast of Puente Hills. Is dark-colored rock with plagioclase and quartz phenocrysts and inconspicuous biotite or hornblende. Is rare constituent of conglomerate in Puente Hills.

Summary:

Temescal dacite porphyry of Dudley (1935) is replaced by name Temescal Wash quartz latite porphyry since name Temescal is preoccupied. Nearly black porphyritic rock forms several large bodies in Corona and Elsinore 30' quads chiefly east of Temescal Wash. Map legend shows age as Jurassic(?).
