Summary:

First published use of name for a variety of quartz monzonite porphyry that occurs on the southeast slopes of Teapot Mountain, Pinal Co, AZ in the Basin-and-Range province. No type locality designated. Geologic map; mapped with other granites and granite porphyry. Is closely associated with Granite Mountain porphyry (first used). Occurs as irregular masses and as dikes in the Pinal schist. Consists of gray porphyritic quartz monzonite porphyry. Has phenocrysts of pink orthoclase as much as 3 cm long and smaller phenocrysts of quartz and milky-white feldspar. Assigned an early Tertiary? age.

Summary:

Age changed from early Tertiary? to Paleocene on basis of K-Ar date of 63 +/-2 m.y. on a K-feldspar. Occurs as small irregular intrusive bodies and dikes in western part of quad, Pinal Co, AZ in Basin-and-Range province. Geologic map.
