Murray, G.E., 1961, Geology of the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plain province of North America: New York, Harper and Brothers Geoscience Series, 692 p.

Summary:

First used as major subdivision (stage) of the Gulf series in the Atlantic and Gulf coastal province and adjacent areas to include all rocks which can be demonstrated within reason, by whatever evidence is available, to be equivalent in age to the type Taylor and its typical divisions. Overlies Austin stage; underlies Navarro stage. Also called Tayloran. Is considered to be of Campanian age.

Summary:

Interpretation of preliminary paleomagnetic (a.f. demagnetized) and biostratigraphic data from Upper Cretaceous deposits in southwest AR and northeast TX (Arkla basin and Ouachita tectonic belt province) is presented. It is concluded that the boundary between the Austinian and Tayloran provincial stages approximates the boundary between the Gubbio (Italy) reversed polarity zone A (early Campanian) and the Gubbio normal polarity zone B+ (Campanian to early Maestrichtian). The Tayloran-Navarroan provincial stage boundary is reported to be probably within the upper part of the Gubbio normal polarity zone B+.
