Summary:

Summum coal (of Wanless, 1931:IL G.S. Bull. 60) assigned member status in Carbondale formation. In southern area, occurs above Roadhouse coal member and below Hanover limestone member. In western and northern area occurs above Kerton Creek coal member and below Hanover limestone member. In eastern area, occurs above Shawneetown coal member and below Harrisburg (No. 5) coal member. About 3 in. thick.
