Named for occurrence at Steele Valley in southern part of Perris-Elsinore area, Riverside Co, CA. Granodiorite is light-colored with medium granitic texture with no schlieren present. Is younger than Lakeview quartz-hornblende diorite (new) and older than Cajalco quartz monzonite (new). Age is Late Jurassic(?).

Rocks of Steele Valley granodiorite of Dudley (1935) are included in Woodson Mountain granodiorite (new). Age of Woodson Mountain granodiorite is Cretaceous.
