Summary:

Named as a member in middle of Mount Wallace Formation (new) of Sunlight Group (new) of Absaroka Volcanic Supergroup (new) for Slough Creek (p. C12-C13), Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone province, WY. Type area is west of Slough Creek 2 mi south of Yellowstone Park boundary. Also occurs along Buffalo Creek (p. C12-C13), Yellowstone province and Montana folded belt province, MT. Is a composite sheet of welded rhyodacite ash-flow tuff. Is a distinctive, well-exposed continuous unit as much as 1,000 ft thick near middle of formation. Is a compound cooling unit in which ash flows contain variable proportions of quartz, sanidine, and biotite phenocrysts. Is of early Bridgerian, middle Eocene age.
