Pg. 47. Sheldon limestone bed of Calhoun shale member of Shawnee group. The limestone underlying Iowa Point shale and overlying Jones Point shale is not Meadow limestone (which belongs down in Stanton limestone), and is here named Sheldon limestone. In Sand Point section, Cass County, southeastern Nebraska, it consists of 3.5 feet of massive bluish-gray fossiliferous limestone that weathers buff or brownish. It is middle member of Calhoun shale. Fossils (ALLORISMA TERMINALE, bryozoans, brachiopods, crinoid joints, etc.) Age is Pennsylvanian.
