Summary:

Name proposed for coal believed to be lower of two coals formerly called No. 2 A (Harrison, 1951: IL G.S. Rept. Inv. 153). Not recognized in outcrops but encountered at a depth of 543 ft 10 in. in drillhole. In southern IL, stratigraphically above Colchester (No. 2) coal member and below Roadhouse coal member (new). In eastern IL, occurs above Colchester (No. 2) coal member and below Summum coal member.
