Summary:

Named Sandy Grove Sandstone Member of Conemaugh Formation. Composed of coarse grained sandstone, massive to thin bedded upwards. Base of member includes rounded to angular quartz and limestone pebbles. Grayish-red shale beds intertongue in the upper part. Thickness is 54 ft at type section, ranges from 5 to 95 ft where mapped. Basal part fills channels eroded into upper part of underlying grayish-red shale sequence. Upper contact is conformable.
