Lawson, A.C., 1914, San Francisco folio, California, Tamalpais, San Francisco, Concord, San Mateo, and Hayward quadrangles: U.S. Geological Survey Geologic Atlas of the United States Folio, GF-193, 24 p., scale 1:62,500

Summary:

[Named as formation in Franciscan group by Lawson (1902 in abstract, GSA Bull. v.13 p.544-545) evidently for San Miguel Hills in San Francisco Co, CA. Rocks of San Miguel Hills, which appear to be type locality, are mapped as Ingleside chert, Marin sandstone, and Sausalito chert (all new and of Franciscan group), thus in effect abandoning name "San Miguel"].
