Summary:

No type locality designated nor intent to name stated. Exposed between Pinal and Pinto Creeks northwest part of quad, Gila Co, AZ in Globe quad, Southwestern Basin-and-Range region. Named for Ruin basin, northwest of Globe in Ts2 and 3N, R14E. Forms broad basins or valleys that are covered with grus of coarse angular fragments of quartz, pink feldspar, and flakes of biotite. Is more decomposed than Schultze granite (first used) and is of red color. Is usually overlain by basal conglomerate of Apache group (new). Is similar petrologically to Schultze granite. Assigned a pre-Cambrian age. Geologic map.

Summary:

Dated as 1,470 +/-40, 1,415 +/-40, 1,455 +/-40 m.y. K-Ar on biotite, 1,435 +/-40 m.y. K-Ar on plagioclase, and 1,385 m.y. Rb-Sr on biotite. Exposures are widespread north and northwest of Globe, Gila Co, AZ, Southwestern Basin-and-Range region. Is the same age as the Oracle Granite. May be the same as the Oracle Granite.
