Summary:

Reduced in stratigraphic rank from group to formation. Unconformably? overlies the newly named Reausaw Slate of Windy Flats Group (new) of middle Precambrian age. Unconformably underlies Paleozoic rocks. Type locality stated to be in secs 32 and 33, T4N, R4E, Lawrence Co, SD in the Midcontinent region. Mapped in two large outcrop areas at the southwest and west-central edges of the map in Lawrence and Pennington Cos. Consists chiefly of metagraywacke, schistose graywacke and slate or schist of various kinds. Altered calcareous concretions locally. Of middle Precambrian age.
